Early ’50s Bedrooms (1950-55)

This is a collection of images featuring bedrooms from the early ’50s (1950-55). All this week I’ll be sharing images of early interior design from 1952-1955 here so if you’re interested in the early half of the ’50s check back often.

I’ve noticed that bedrooms seem to be the most conservative rooms in the American home. I suppose that shouldn’t surprise me much but I have been kind of baffled by how traditional and conservative the bedrooms looked in the late ’40s as well as the early ’50s. It seems as if it was the last room in the house to modernize. If I had more time I could probably make a case for it being symbolic of the countries deeply problematic views of sex and human sexuality.
