About Me

Welcome to Mid-Century Living! The Groovy Grape Blog

My name is Kimberly and I’m a longtime admirer of mid-century design. In 2010 my husband and I bought our first home and it’s a beautiful little atomic ranch house that was built in 1954. The house was a “fixer-upper” in need of major repairs and located in a small postwar suburban neighborhood created to accommodate the civilian and military workers at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard during WWII. The original owners claimed that the design was inspired by Joseph Eichler so we refer to our home as our “Likeler.” As for myself, I’m a freelance writer and artist who has worked with many different clients including Turner Classic Movies and Publishers Weekly.

I will be sharing shop updates for The Groovy Grape shop here as well as various retro-inspired articles, decorating tips, gardening and landscaping ideas, recipes, and anything else that falls under the banner of “Mid-Century” or “Living.” I’ll also be writing about various things that interest me as a mid-century enthusiast and shopkeeper selling vintage goods.
