Kitchens (1960-65)

This week I thought I’d continue my visual history of mid-century interior design and focus on the early ’60s (1960-65).

The swinging ’60s is my favorite decade mainly due to the films, music, art and cultural revolution that took place but I also love ’60s design. Here’s some examples of fabulous ’60s era kitchens borrowed from old magazines.

  1. Sewing Geek might be referring to those Frigidaire Flairs – the ones where the cooktop pulls out and the oven doors swing up. I have one of the smaller, single-oven variety and I LOVE it. Just search for "1960 Frigidaire Flair" on eBay or Craigslist, they pop up for sale pretty regularly. People usually ask $150 – $200 for them.Bit of trivia – Samantha in the 1960s "Bewitched" tv series had one!
