Save the Pink Bathrooms!

One of my favorite mid-century sites is Retro Renovation run by Pam Kueber who also created the wonderful Save the Pink Bathrooms site.

I love mid-century style pink bathrooms and decided to scan some images of them from old decorating magazines I have so I could share them here (click on images to see them full size in all their pink glory!). You can also see many more pictures of pink bathrooms at Pam’s “Save the Pink Bathrooms” Flickr group.

  1. These ads are so great Kimberly. I love your new site and have added your banner over at my friends list at Moon…hope all is well with you and your family!

  2. I'm glad you liked them, Jeremy! It's really kind of you to link to me. This blog is still in it's infancy/experimental stage, but hopefully it won't suffer the same fate as my neglected Japanese music blog.

Kim,I have a theater and home automation project in an area of C.S. that is the most incredible mid-century jewel. There is a pink bathroom, an avocado, a black porcelain, and a yellow. The foyer is huge (I've seen churches with smaller)all glass and steel framing. While in their driveway sits a Porsche, I can easily imagine a '57 Eldo….Chuck

Oh, and BTW, awesome new blog. Chuck

  5. The bathroom in the house we lived in when I was really little had beautiful pink pearlescent tile. I hadn't thought about it until reading this post! I doubt it is still there all these years later. Perhaps a save the avocado kitchens is next? 🙂

  6. Chazz – Thanks Chaz! That house sounds incredible. You should take some pictures of it. I know I'd love to see it and I'd be more than happy to share the photos here.Jacque – Pink tiles are really lovely. I haven't come across any avocado bathrooms myself but my mom used to have an avocado color kitchen complete with matching icebox, stove and dishwasher. Avocado was a popular color in the '60s and '70s! Yummm… suddenly I'm hungry! 😉

I have a bathroom like this in a pastel green. The toilet is huge, probably a 3.2 gal flush!

  8. Gino – You might want to consider making some small modifications so yourold toilet doesn't waste so much water. I currently live in an old Victorian house converted to apartments and the bathroom was probably last updated in the '30s. I followed this advice and it has helped:
